A Railcard is a discount card that allows you to save up to 1/3 off most rail fares, including Advance tickets.

There are seven UK Railcards available to buy from our website. These are:

• Network Railcard
• 16-25 Railcard
• 26-30 Railcard
• Family & Friends Railcard
• Senior Railcard
• Two Together Railcard
• 16-17 Saver

The Railcards available to you differ depending on your age and your circumstances. For example, everybody is eligible for a Network Railcard, regardless of their age or health – though a Network Railcard only covers London and the South-East, so it may not be useful to you if you live elsewhere. If you're between the ages of 16-30, you have a choice of three Railcards – the 16-17 Saver, the 16-25 or the 26-30. If you're over 60, you'll be able to get the Senior Railcard.

If you're an Annual Season Ticket holder in the South-East of England, you might be eligible for a free Annual Gold Card, which will give you similar discounts to the Network Railcard.

Most Railcards cost £35 for one year, except for the Disabled Persons Railcard, which costs just £20. The 16-25, Senior, and Family & Friends Railcards are also available as a three-year option for £80, meaning you can save £25 on the cost of three individual Railcards. The Disabled Persons Railcard also has a three-year option but it's cheaper and costs just £54.

Yes, you can. Just make sure to bring a completed Railcard application form with you, you can find them online on the Railcards website. You'll also need a photo of yourself.

You can still travel, but unfortunately, you'll have to pay the full fare if you don't have your Railcard with you. The best thing to do is to order a replacement ASAP.

Yes. If you're travelling in a group and some members of your party have Railcards, you can select and add more than one Railcard when booking your tickets. Simply select the number of passengers that will be travelling together and add the type of Railcard for each one of them from the drop-down list. Your total journey cost will be based on the correct discounts for each of the Railcards and numbers of passengers entered.

Most Railcards can get you 1/3 off eligible adult rail fares. The Network, Family & Friends and Veterans Railcards can also get you 60% off kids' fares, while the 16-17 Saver offers a 50% discount on adult fares.

Whilst there's no Railcard for over 30, there are other Railcard options that can save you money on train tickets, such as Two Together and Family & Friends.

Yes, nearly all the main Railcards are available to buy digitally. These include the 16-17 Saver, 16-25, 26-30, Network, Senior, Two Together and the Family and Friends Railcard. You can now buy all 7 digital Railcards with us.

You'll need to get our app to have a Railcard on your phone. You can download the app from the Apple Store and the Google Play store. You'll need to have iOS 15.0 and above or Lollipop on Android to get your digital Railcard on your phone.

When you buy a digital Railcard with us, it's stored in your account, so you can access it on whichever device you travel with, there's no limit.

As soon as your digital Railcard shows in our app, you can start using it to save up to 1/3 on train tickets.

Your digital Railcard will be available to use right away. You'll find your new Railcard under 'Railcards' in the Account tab of our app.

All Railcards, except for the Network Railcard, can be used during Peak times to some extent. However, the fixed-price minimum fares, area restrictions and times may differ for each Railcard.

Yes, if you've already bought your Railcard elsewhere, you can still use it to buy tickets online with us. When booking a train ticket using our Journey Planner, simply hit 'Add Railcard' on the drop-down that appears when clicking to update passenger details. Select your Railcard type and the 1/3 savings will be applied automatically to your booking.

Yes, you can apply your 16-25, 26-30 or Senior Railcard discount to your Oyster card to save 1/3 on the price of your Single Off-Peak pay as you go fares across the London Underground and on the DLR.

Additionally, Railcards allow you to bag 1/3 off for Off-Peak Day Travelcards within London zones 1-6, as well as for Anytime Day Travelcards which are purchased as part of a journey into London from outside of zones 1-9.

You can use a Railcard to buy a discounted train ticket from onboard staff – but only if the station you arrived at had no ticketing facilities or the ticket machines are broken.

You can also use a Railcard on all passenger train services in Great Britain, excluding Eurostar. Sleeper train services are also valid.

Yes. Although your Railcard will live in our App, it can still be used with tickets bought elsewhere.

No, unfortunately Railcards do not give discounts on Season tickets, as buying a Season ticket means you'll already be saving money on travel compared to buying tickets every day.
